Charmian Chen - monkeys cheekily stripped her dress off

Name: Charmian Chen
Height: 161 cm
Weight: 46 kg
About: Charmian Chen, a 22-years old student and model from Taiwan, was on a holiday visiting the Sacred Monkey Forest Ubud in Bali when two monkeys decided she was a little overdressed and pulled her dress down. This embarrassing incident made Charmian a global star! Who would have thought that monkeys can make someone famous? These monkeys are truly "sacred"!


Charmian attracts the attention of the primates when she was feeding them with corns. A piece of corn apparently had fallen into Charmian's dress and these monkeys decided to go for it. One of the monkey managed to pull Charmian's tube dress down and caused her a wardrobe malfunction!


Red-faced Charmian naturally tried to cover her exposed self as best she could with her hands. And because of these embarrassed event's pictures, it became an international headline appearing on blog sites, forums and news portals across the world including her native country Taiwan, with TV stations asking her to appear and talk about it.


I'm not sure if these cheeky monkeys were really after the fallen corn or were they going for the "peaches". She said, "I was on holiday and at first the pictures were just funny, but when I got back to Taiwan I had all these people trying to add me as friends on Facebook. I thought that's a bit strange. One of them said they'd seen the pictures and I was really surprised and the next thing I knew I had TV stations ringing me."

Charmian added, "I was on vacation then in Bali so I didn't mind it, but back in Taiwan I am still studying so I didn't want to become famous just for my boobs. But actually it has been fun, people do come up to me and say, "You're the monkey girl!" and it made me laugh.".


"The monkeys, as well as being hungry, were also attracted to bikinis worn by many visitors. I think when they took my top down it was because of the corn and the park staffs warned the visitors that bright bikinis worn under dresses do attract the monkeys. I think it's the bright colours which they think might be fruit, well I don't know about that but it was very strange at the time.", added by Charmian.


Real pure coincidence "thankfully" to these naughty monkeys? Or was it staged? Let's look at some of the Netizens comments:

November Favourites!

I cannot believe November is over - that was SO fast! It's surprising how 2011 has gone by in a blink of an eye though, and I almost feel like monthly favourites are to blame cuz I look forward to the end of the month so much :P NAUGHTY!

Neutral colors dominate the red carpet at ’32nd Blue Dragon Film Awards’

It hardly seemed like it was winter at the ‘32nd Blue Dragon Film Awards, as actresses in pastel-colored dresses made the red carpet bloom.

On November 25th, stars gathered at Kyung Hee University’s Hall of Peace in Dongdaemun, Seoul, to take part in the annual film awards. Since it’s one of the most prestigious events in K-entertainment, many expected actresses to pull up in the traditional colors of red, black, and white. This year, however, there was a mutual consensus to step out of the ordinary and deliver something enchanting and wonderfully feminine.

Kim Hye Soo, who was nominated for Best Actress for her role in ‘Villain and Widow‘, wore a dove grey, off-shoulder dress that clung to her figure. The broad, angled cut around the neckline left an effect that was sophisticated, yet sexy.

Another strong nominee for the Best Actress award, Tang Wei from ’Late Autumn‘, wore a full green-grey dress that didn’t look a bit dowdy, as its lace detailing gave it a sense of elegance.

Actresses Choi Kang Hee, Jung Ryeo Won, and Nam Gyuri all also chose to wear long dresses that were close to a nude color, though all three were insightful enough to ensure that there were enough playful details like frills and bejewelled beading to prevent their look from being too dull.

If there’s anything that these ladies taught us yesterday evening, it’s that neutral shades aren’t just for spring anymore — with the right cut and accents, it can be relevant for all seasons.

Yoon Seung Ah transforms into Coco Chanel for ‘Vogue’

Actress Yoon Seung Ah was chosen to model for international fashion house Chanel in ‘Vogue‘ magazine’s latest pictorial.

14 stars were chosen by 15 designers as their ‘muses’, and Chanel picked Yoon Seung Ah. The result was like an homage to the founding designer herself, as Yoon Seung Ah showcased Coco’s style points to a T.

To start, her hair was made to emulate Coco Chanel’s with a wavy, short bob. Yoon Seung Ah also wore a conservative, yet classy black-and-white outfit whose satin lapels added a touch of luxury. Painting her lips dark red as a finishing touch, Yoon Seung Ah succeeded in capturing the confident, yet sophisticated essence of Chanel.

Netizens commented, “You fit well with any photoshoot concept~ an angel’s face!” and “Yoon Seung Ah is the ‘it’ girl in the photoshoot world”.

2NE1, the first Korean artists posed for ‘WWD Japan’

The ladies of 2NE1 have become the first Korean artists to grace the cover of popular Japanese fashion magazine, ‘WWD Japan‘!

2NE1 were chosen as cover models for the magazine’s winter issue, which allowed them to join the ranks of many other famous women in Japan who previously graced the cover such as professional skater Asada Mao and actress Miyazawa Rie.

For their pictorial, 2NE1 wore French brand Balmain, which gave them an elegant gloss to their fierce charisma. Reportedly, the members’ outfits had cost around 25 million yen (approximately 322,872 USD).

In related news, 2NE1 will join fellow YG Entertainment artists and perform at the ‘YG Family Concert in Japan‘ on January 7th and 8th at the Kyocera Dome, and on January 21st and 22nd at the Saitama Super Arena.

Spelling Bee!

This afternoon is the city wide 5th grade English Spelling Bee!  This is 대현 David and 규은 Michelle, also known as the 2012 English Spelling Bee champions!  Or at least they will be known as that later this afternoon!  I've been working with them for the past week and a half and they're incredible!

These may not look like difficult words to spell, but I didn't just say the word and have them spell it.  I read the definition of the word in English.  They then had to figure out what I was talking about AND write it correctly!  I'm telling you!  They're gonna win it! 

...and when they do, I'm going to treat us all to a little ice cream! :)


*** UPDATE: Michelle went further than David, but neither won.  SAD.  To rub more salt on the wound, Aaron's student won 2nd place!  Way to go A!

The Make Up Wipes of All Make Up Wipes?

About a year ago I wrote about the worst make-up wipes I've ever tried - the Superdrug cucumber wipes. But I'm guessing I'm not alone in saying I've tried about 10 different kinds of make-up wipes and I'm always up for new brands, and it genuinely depends on my financial state or which is the nearest pack when I'm in store and realise I need more.

As dramatic as it sounds, I didn't really think make-up wipes could be perfect until I tried these - you never instinctively think about the different aspects of the wipes, as long as it takes your make-up off at the end of the day. But as the year's gone on, I'm now pleased to say I've found the other end of the spectrum! I can now write about the BEST make-up wipes ever:

Like I said earlier, you never think about the different aspects of make-up wipes until you realise they ALL hit the nail on the head like this one does! It's seriously the right moistness without being too wet, the cloth is so soft and never scratchy or have clumped up bits, and the packaging is so sleek and very effective because the lid is so easy to shut and open the lids. There's no faffing with stickers that lose their sticky-power, and the next sheet never awkwardly sticks out when you've pulled out the one at the top.

So what about what it's actually meant to do? I can say that these wipes remove 98% of my make up on the first go. I could never see make-up left on my Liz Earle muslin cloth, and the wipes are soft enough to lightly rub on eyelashes to get mascara out (granted I used non-waterproof mascaras!), AND the eyeliner in between eyelashes - actually insane! :P

In fact, sometimes when I used these, I actually forgot to use face wash because it felt so clean and nourished, and there is no residue whatsoever - no shine, no greasyness or wetness! This is obviously very handy on the drunken/late nights ;)

I think the only issue with this product is the same issue with the rest of ELF's products for us in the UK - you can only get it online. The product itself at 20 wipes for £3.50 isn't the cheapest of make-up wipes, and if we don't want anything else from the ELF site, you're looking at paying about £3 for shipping - they're great make-up wipes, but not £7 great! So really the best way to go about it is to stock-up when there's a free shipping offer (usually a minimum spend of £10), or if you're already shopping about on their site :)

Wow I never thought I could write so much about make-up wipes! :P

Things that made me laugh this week!

1. I had a chest X-ray done for a medical check to renew my E-2 VISA and when I was finished, I asked to the technician, "Ta Desayo?" (Am I finished?) His broken English response came out as a simple, "Go home." 

2. I asked Aaron to pick up a thermometer from the store before he came over last Monday to take care of me.  When he got to my place, he told me the store only had rectal thermometers, but he bought one for me anyway.  I was mortified and kept asking if he was serious!  He kept a straight face for a good 5 minutes as he opened the package and kept saying that he was so sorry, but it was all they had.  LIAR!

3. Aaron gave me his best rendition of Marcel the shell with shoes on.

4. My co-teacher told me her skin is really white because she eats a lot of vegetables.  hmmm?!

5. My other co-teacher asked me if it's common for Americans to give presents at Christmas time?! This just made me laugh for some reason.  She's obviously never seen an American mall during the month of December!

6. Text conversation between Aaron and I at 7:30pm on Wednesday:

A: Wanna meet me at the casino?

J: I'm in the middle of a project.

A: What project?

J: I'm making a snow globe.

A: Don't be a stick in the mud!

J: I'm not even close to being a stick in the mud!

A: You are at home making a snow globe. That is the epitome of stick in the mud.

What are you 65 years old?

J: Touché. I'm on my way.

7. I was standing in line in the school cafeteria and a first grader called me "Pinocchio" because I have a "long nose!"

8. Conversation between Aaron and I Thursday after Thanksgiving dinner:

J: Oh, I wanna see if I can find a video of Justin Beiber performing on the Today Show.

A: I already watched it.  It wasn't very good.

*** Yes, my 29 year old boyfriend searched for and watched a Justin Beiber concert online!  LOL

It's always nice to have a good laugh, isn't it?!

Gobble Gobble!

Hey friends! Did everyone have a wonderful Thanksgiving? I sure did but I'm still having trouble getting my pants buttoned, ha! Oh well, it was worth it!

I've had really high hopes of getting back into blogging. I thoroughly enjoy going back and reading about what my life was like at any point. It's a fun alternative to scrapbooking and I've made so many wonderful friends. I feel like I know some of you better than my real life friends since we talk every day on twitter or through texting.

With that said, guess who forget to take pictures this weekend? Yep, yours truly. *Sigh* I used to be the master of picture taking! I don't know what happened. BUT I'm asking my readers, whoever is still out there, to PLEASE hold me accountable!

Late thanksgiving

WOW! I'm so late with this post -_-.. but I still wanted to show you guys what I wore for thanksgiving :) That day we went to my grandmas house, we had a wonderful time with the family. I waited all year long to have some sweet potato, yeap you all can imagine how that went haha I ate A LOT! I couldn't even move afterwards. I really hope you all had a wonderful thanksgiving. xoxo

Estoy super tarde con este post :( lo sé. Pero igual les quería mostrar lo que me puse el día de Acción de gracias ^.^ Ese día fuimos a casa de mi abuela, la pasamos super cheverisimo. Una de las cosas que mas me gusta de thanksgiving es el sweet potato, espero todo el año para poder comerlo mmmm (que por cierto, este año estuvo buenísimo) ya se imaginan como estuvo eso.. perdí la dieta por completo ha!
