"Let's Skate!" "I Would if I Could.."

I'm sure everyone has seen MAC's Glitter & Ice Collection, but is it just me that thinks there hasn't been one dominant product that everyone's getting? The closest maybe is the Morning Frost paint pot!

As a raving paint pot loon, I have to admit I was drawn to it at first - naughty, because my trusty Satin Taupe eyeshadow and Vintage Selection paint pot are my two favourite taupes, and I'm not sure I need any others! So my attention shifted to the understated, and not really spoken about paint pot - Let's Skate! (Lol I do realise, that this was one of the few things that was NOT on my Glitter & Ice wishlist :P)

To explain the title, the exclamation after names of things (like PANIC! At The Disco) always makes it more emotive and conversation-like in my head..

Oh I am in LOVE! The colour is NOTHING like you see on the website - it is a pale brightening pink (think Benefit Eyebright but a tad darker) with small gold iridescent glitter - a truly unique combination that I haven't seen anywhere else on the market. When popped over the lid on its own, it creates a wintery edge to an ordinary baby pink and instantly opens up your eyes, especially when paired with a strong winged eyeliner and lots of mascara!

Lauren and I have been raving to each other about this paint pot, and she has also alerted me to layering powder eyeshadows over it - genius. She recommends MAC Cork (I use UD Naked Palette's Naked) to create a browny gold, with the same iridescent glitter which she says is like NARS Galapagos - sheer genius.

I'm sure the main concern for skeptics is the chunky glitter. Personally, I say embrace it! It's what puts this eyeshadow apart from all other sparkly baby pink ones, with its unique multi-faceted glitter. It's the winter season when sparkles, glitters and fairy lights makes everyone feel all warm inside - if it's good enough for cake toppings it's good enough for your eyes ;)

The pictures don't do it justice - you HAVE to go swatch it ladies :) It's an everyday winter shade that's a no-brainer, easy to use formula :) I reach for it practically everyday when I'm stumbling out of bed at 8.. I know, lazy student!

What were your favourites from this year's MAC's Glitter & Ice? :)

FOTD: Back With MAC Eyeshadows :)

I really have missed wearing eyeshadow (as I haven't shut up about since my previous post) so I decided to pop a FOTD with a combination I wore today :) I've also missed doing FOTDs - it's just so difficult as a lot of days I don't wear make-up, or because I have limited products with me I haven't been very adventurous!  Ironically, I've dropped my MAC 15 eyeshadow palette twice today - ever so graceful. Anyway, enough rambling now, on to the FOTD! :P

What I'm Wearing..

Face:
- MAC Studio Moisture Tint in Medium Dark
- Bobbi Brown Correcter in Peach
- MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NC35
- Bourjois Compact Powder in 73 Miel Dore
- Rimmel Sunshimmer Bronzer in Medium Matte
- Dior Shimmer Powder in 02 Amber Diamond

Eyes:
- MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre
- MAC Naked Lunch Eyeshadow (all over the lid)
- MAC Tempting Eyeshadow (in outercorner and socket)
- MAC Brule Eyeshadow (brow highlight)
- K-Palette Real Lasting Eyeliner 24hrs
- MAC Plushlash Mascara in Plushblack
- Clinique Superfine Liner for Brows in Deep Brown 03

Lips:
- Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in 700 Nude Delight
- Dior Addict Lipstick in 343 Miss Dior

I think my favourite parts of this look is first the polished-looking eye - it makes SUCH a big difference to have a really good brow highlight in my opinion, and both Naked Lunch and Tempting are gorgeous colours! I've also gone back to using eyeliner - although I still haven't winged it out as I used to always do :) The second is using Dior Amber Diamond as a blusher - it's very subtle but gives a lovely glow that really tones down your look.

My least favourite is the lippy - I usually wear my Dior Addict on top of a light layer of concealer or foundation, which brings out the peach more. I thought I'd experiment because I'm not particularly a fan of putting face products on my lips, but I think I'll be going back to that from now on!

Thanks for reading guys, hope you liked it :)

Eyeshadows, I Want You Back In My Life!

Does anyone else seem to go through a rough patch with their eyeshadows over the summer? Well, what do they say, "distant makes the heart grow fonder"? Yep, that's the one.

I started off in the make-up world only caring about eyeshadow - I had 1 blush, 1 powder foundation, 0 bronzer, 2 eyeliners, 1 concealer and about 20 eyeshadows. But as this year has been my first serious dabble into blushers, bronzers, foundations and powder, my poor eyeshadows seem to have been pushed aside.

I've also had some issues coming to terms with my eyelid shape - it's difficult to work with! But in the past week or so, I've had the sudden craving to look up gurus with similar shapes and go back to the eyeshadow girl that I once was (que DRAMAAAA!) So here are the lovely bits that I used this week :)

Top Row:
- MAC Brule
- MAC Patina
- MAC Mulch

Bottom Row:
- ARTDeco 34
- ARTDeco 208
- ARTDeco 45

Left Column: ARTDeco Eyeshadows
Right Column: MAC Eyeshadows

I did have a bit of a off relationship with MAC Brule, however I've discovered that it really works the best when used with your finger or a fluffy brush - atm it's my favourite highlighter which is no surprise as I have a very close shade in my 28 Neutral Palette that has hit pan ages ago!

Amidst my research on my eye shape, I've realised that most girls don't realise that you can wear non-browns without looking OTT - we see them in FOTDs of girls who have realised this but a lot of us never really do it ourselves! My fave FOTDs atm is from Amanda!

So I've made a massive list of coloured MAC eyeshadows to purchase when I am back. The one I'm most excited for? MAC Print or Scene, which are both matte greys :)

This has been my base of choice, MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre. Even if I don't have an alternative, I had a off relationship with this one as well which probably made the rough patch even rougher! However, I've now realised that I wasn't using enough of this, and now that I've got it down - I love it!

Speaking of eyeshadow bases, if you follow me on Twitter you may have noticed a sudden interest in the Urban Decay Naked Palette from me - I've bought it, thanks to Jade's discount code! :D So not only will I be able to try the legendary palette at long last, I'll also have my first dabble into the Primer Potion :) (Actually I lie, my bf's sister once gave me a teeny one.) It's actually the last item on my 2011 Wishlist besides the Sigma brushkit that I no longer want :)

As I'm in Japan all my recent online purchases have been sent to the boy's so I've got to wait another 3 weeks.. but can I just say I'm so excited for the NARS eyeshadow duo that's waiting for me?

I KNOW I'M SUCH A EYESHADOW HO.
(and a blush ho, and a powder ho, and a bronzer ho, and a foundation ho, blah blah blah sue me.)

What make-up ho are you? :D

<3yu

P.S. I am off on holiday tomorrow with my mother! :) So will be away for about 5 days - I'll attempt to schedule a post during that time, so keep your eyes out, and take care! :)

FOTD: ArtDeco Palette #1

On my Berlin trip I made myself a palette from ArtDeco. One of the eyeshadow shades I got was an aqua colour and to be honest - it was kind of an impulse buy, that was triggered by the want to get non-neutral eyeshadows. Perplexed by how the heck I was going to pull it off, I attempted something :)

Face:
Dior Diorskin Forever Foundation in 030
Bourjois Compact Powder in 73 Miel Dore
MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NC35
Bobbi Brown Corrector in Peach
ArtDeco Blush in 19

Eyes:
ELF Studio Eye Primer and Line Sealer Stick
MAC Eyeshadow in Honesty
ArtDeco Eyeshadow in 391
MaxFactor False Lash Effect Mascara
K-Palette Real Lasting Finish 24hr Eyeliner
Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil in Hazel

Lips:
Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick in Nude Delight 700

ArtDeco Blusher in 19; ArtDeco Eyeshadow in 391; MAC Eyeshadow in Honesty

I thought it was a good twist to the typical neutral eyeshadow on top, and blue liner on the bottom look!

It actually turned out pretty wearable, and because of the way my eyes fold, when I open my eyes the blue really stands out the most! This colour, when blended out turns into like an ashy dark blue, but concentrated, it maintains its vibrance so it's a really interesting and multipurpose shadow! :)

I also found a great teal eyeshadow look from TiffanyD, but I don't have any pastel teal colours.. couldn't imagine myself wearing it but I'm a bit curious now! :P

How do you wear bright eyeshadows? :)

What Did I Get in March? :)

Third month down of my Project Pan, and I've got a total of 7/15 products! Not too bad, but not amazing either, but my mascara is on the verge of drying out, I can hardly hold my eyeliner and my concealer is starting to dry out as well as I had to depot it to get use of all the product. Hopefully by the end of April, I'll be more than 2/3 of the way! :)

Anyway, here are the things I treated myself to this month:

* MAC Viva Glam Lipstick in Cyndi (£13.50)
* MAC Eyeshadow in Naked Lunch (£9.50)
* MAC MSF in So Ceylon (Yummy Mummy's Blogsale!)

L to R: So Ceylon, Naked Lunch, Cyndi.

Cyndi is an incredibly wearable cherry red, due to its sheer nature. Not sure if it's still available, it's worth a check in MAC stores and Debenhams. If you've been toying with the idea - just go for it. I was toying with it for months, and do not regret it :)

Naked Lunch I've raved about forever now, so I wont bore you. Here's my post on it :)

I've developed an addiction for MSFs, and So Ceylon is my first bronze one - most definitely influenced by TiffanyD - I love her! :) I was hoping it'd be a great all over the face bronzer, but it's kind of a pinky bronze so it works amazingly as a blush/contour. I haven't used it a lot to be honest because I've been trying to use the bronzer for my Project Pan, but I imagine I'll be reaching for it a lot in the summer :) So Ceylon is a bit similar, but a lot less coppery than my Hard Candy Bombshell. Still on the look out for a more yellow-toned bronze MSFs (lemme know of any blogsales! :P), but so glad I got this it is simply gorgeous and I can't wait to use it!

What have you gotten this month that you have been in love with? :)

Eureka Perfect Nude Eyeshadow!

Ever since like, forever, I've been looking for an eyeshadow that was similar to my skintone, just a little bit cooler and shimmery. And I think I've found it!

MAC Naked Lunch <3

Sorry for the horrendous emo modeling but I'm sure you're used to that by now :P

I've been wearing this look every day since I've gotten this eyeshadow. Here I've used:

Face:
Revlon Colourstay in Sand Beige
MUJI Concealer in Ochre
ELF Complexion Perfection Powder
MAC MSF in Light Flush
ELF Studio Blush in Tickled Pink
Rimmel Sunshimmer Bronzer in Medium Matte

Eyes:
Benefit Stay Don't Stray Primer
MAC Naked Lunch E/S
MAC Satin Taupe E/S
Maybelline Chai Latte Quad (for brows and highlight)
Rimmel Soft Kohl Eyeliner in Black
Maybelline Falsies Mascara in Black
Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil in Hazel

Lips:
Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Nude Delight 700

What's your perfect nude eyeshadow?
Do you have Naked Lunch?
:)

Personal Update:
This is how much I've been enjoying working on my disso.. Photo courtesy of boyfriend, lol.

February Project Pan Treats :)

So for my Project 15 Pan, I've allowed myself 3 products per month to get me by. January I did really well and only got 1 thing. In February, I took advantage of the limit and got myself 3 very lovely things from DitzyMakeUp and DaintyDollyMix's blogsales :)

Left: MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Light Flush (LE)
Right Top: MAC E/S in Woodwinked, Right Bottom: MAC E/S in Mulch

I have been absolutely loving loving loving Light Flush, and have been using it as a dual highlighter and blush. I also think Woodwinked is to die for - the amount of light it catches is phenomenal, and I love how it doesn't show orange on me (apparently it does for some people, so be warned!). I'm still unsure about Mulch, but we shall see :) Here are some swatches:

Left to Right: Light Flush, Mulch, Woodwinked.

Aren't they so PRETTY?! XD

Also, if you didn't know already I am hosting a fundraising blogsale to raise money for the Japan Tsunami and Earthquake. It would mean the world if you could just take 5min to check it out and see if there's anything that you would like :) Here is the link, please spread the word! Every little bit helps, even if you buy something that's £1, remember you are getting something for being charitable :)

Finally! The Start of My MAC Palette :)

I have been waiting SO long for this guys! I've finally got myself a MAC Eyeshadow Palette to fill with all my babies *obsessed*.

What is with the white dot near the bottom? Does everyone else have that? Why is it there?!
I picked it up from the MAC store at Neal Street yesterday when I was down in London for an Open Day. I was meant to pick up Naked Lunch with it until I swatched it in store and didn't quite like it. So I walked out with this, kind of disappointed that the infamous eyeshadow wasn't to my taste.

Then I looked at my hand - ugh the swatch looked gorgeous in natural light! Instantly regretting it, but knowing I'll have another chance to go to MAC soon, I came home to fill it with my 5 eyeshadows I already have (obviously after attending the Open Day :P). And here they are!

Top Row: Honesty, Middle Row: Patina, Tempting, Satin Taupe, Bottom Row: Beauty Marked
My boyfriend asked quizzically as to why I had them in random places. All you beauty lovers know why - I've got my whole palette planned out already (*obsessed x2*). I'm planning on getting 6 browns/neutrals and 4 colours :).

Anyway, I'll keep you guys updated on how the filling goes! It's also quite exciting that out of the 5 products I mentioned in my 2011 Wishlist, I've already got 3 :)

Have you guys got a MAC palette? Are/were you obsessed as I am? :)

MAC Eyeshadow Overview - Honesty

I received a lot of comments on my previous MAC Eyeshadow Overview post, so I've decided to do another one :) This one is on Honesty, which was my second MAC eyeshadow and it is a Lustre finish.

This is what Honesty looks like in the pan, and I would say it's like a very very light taupey beige with copper glitters.

As you can see below, when you take it on your finger it's still the same colour.

However, when you actually swatch it after this, or apply it on your eyelid with a brush, it suddenly has some kind of copper-ish bronze-ish tint to it which made my heart sink.. just a little bit.

I'm not sure if you can tell, but there is a slight change in colour, which is a bit more dramatic in person. It looks a lot bronzier on my eye and it may partially be my skintone that changes it (NC30-35), but it definitely doesn't look like what it does when you swatch it on your finger or in the pan.

I'm wondering if it's something like Club, where the more you blend, the different the colour? Cuz you do see slight copperish glitters even in the pot. This is something I think should be noted when speaking about this eyeshadow!

The consistency is something that I quite like. I find it very soft, creamy and the fall out actually doesn't bother me cuz there's not a lot as far as I can tell.

However, being a Lustre it still is less cohesive than other eyeshadows, meaning a fluffy brush probably isn't the way to go with this as it would eat it up. It's more of a 'packing' eyeshadow than it is a 'sweeping' if that makes sense at all!

Lisasz09 did a video comparing Honesty to All That Glitters, but I don't think All That Glitters is very coppery? So maybe they aren't that comparable? But I don't think it's a must-have like ATG is said to be. I think it's more of a niche colour if you collect MAC, or if you just like 'special' or 'cool' eyeshadows.

I'm quite happy that I already have this, as if I were to go to MAC now, I would've completely ignored it, just because no one talks about it. Idk if that even makes sense, but I quite like the fact that it's a product of my naivety - like I gave it a chance because I didn't "know better" - but maybe I did, that I chose things because I thought they looked pretty, not because everyone talks about it.

50th post :)

FOTD: 01.12.10 - MAC Patina

Recently I got all the MAC orders that I made during December (minus a lipstick I bought from a blogsale), and one of them was the eyeshadow Patina. It was the first colour that I bought out of reputation rather than the actual colour, and I was a little afraid. Now, I'm just intrigued. It's such a strange colour!

Anyway, here is the look I did today:

All over lid - Patina; Outer corner - Tempting

The picture doesn't do it justice, but it's like a gold-ish grey-ish beige-ish colour.. it's so strange! I know I will probably end up loving it, as it is the most similar to my lid colour and makes for a great all over lid colour.. but it's just so strange! Anyway, I want to do a proper post on it one day after I use it quite a bit so until then, here is my FOTD :)

Face:
- Revlon ColourStay in 04 Sand Beige
- Maybelline Dream Mousse Concealer in 03 Sand
- MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NC35
- CANMAKE Shading Powder
- CANMAKE Highlighting Powder
- NARS Sin Blush
- E.L.F Complexion Perfection Powder
- MUJI Light Toning Water

Eyes:
- Benefit Stay Don't Stray Primer
- 28 Neutral Palette Row 3 Column 2
- MAC Patina
- MAC Tempting
- Maybelline Eyestudio Gel Liner
- Rimmel Soft Kohl Eyeliner in Black
- MaxFactor False Lash Effect Mascara
- Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil in Hazel

Lips:
- MAC Creme Cup

MAC Eyeshadow Overview - Beauty Marked

I'm not sure about you, but I love deliberating over which MAC eyeshadow to get next, and because of this I wanna do focused posts on specific colours that I have, to give suggestions to people looking for a new MAC eyeshadow. I know when I first gained interest in them, I wanted in depth stuff about specific colours to make sure I got the perfect ones, because these babies aren't cheap!

So.. I'm going to start with my first ever MAC eyeshadow, which was Beauty Marked :)

This is a Velvet finish eyeshadow, and in the pan, it looks like a matte black with magenta glitter. However, when you apply it with a brush, you will find that it's just a hardly pigmented matte black and the glitter is unnoticeable when applied on the eye. It's also not the creamiest of consistencies.

For this reason, I usually use this as a black to deepen my outer-V, as it's really easy to control how much goes on, cuz it's semi-pigmented on the right brush - like a dense crease/pencil brush (shader brushes eat this stuff up for some reason!). It's weird cuz when you take it on your finger, it's crazy pigmented, but it won't transfer onto anything else..

BUT BUT BUT BUT! The best part about Beauty Marked is that it has an AMAZING effect when foiled. Foiling means to use the eyeshadow wet, and to do this, you take some product on your brush and spray your brush with either water or a setting spray (view a post about those here), and then apply them to your eyes. Here is the difference:

(L - Dry; R - Wet)
The picture doesn't do it justice as it looks a bit brown here, but it's actually a magenta metallic sheen over black.

As you can see, while you can use it dry either in the daytime to deepen your crease and in the nighttime you can totally transform this into a metallic and very unique colour. It works really well as an eyeliner when it's wet, and it will add that extra bit of special-ness you can't get with just a plain black liner. But you wont get an eyeliner of this colour dry.. it's way too sheer!

This is great if you want a multi-functional version of a plain black, if you don't mind it being not very pigmented. The only thing I don't like about it, is how difficult it is to get the colour on the brush to apply onto a surface.. the product seems to disappear, unless it's a dense crease brush.

Do any of you guys have Beauty Marked? :)

I hope you guys enjoyed this post, and lemme know if you would be interested in more posts like these on specific colours! :)
